Margaret's Family Prego Shoot

My cousins Margaret and Hilson are having baby #2! She has a perfect little baby bump and at the time of this shoot she had 3 weeks left until term! One shot I wish we would have done was with her or Hilson holding a basketball because that it exactly what her bump looks like! I can’t wait to meet the new addition to the family! And just in time for the holidays!

Ballerina

A few years back, I interned in New York City for Lois Greenfield who specializes in dance photography.  www.loisgreenfield.com  She is so amazing and her photographs are superb. You might have seen her work in advertisements for Broadway’s Stomp. She mostly catches dancer’s mid-air doing something breathtaking. So I thought how fun would it be to do one of these shoots myself!  Dance photography is definitely underrated.  I had expressed my desire to do dance photography on Facebook and a friend of mine referred me to Brittany, who is such a great kid and dances with such grace and elegance.  It was kind of a special shoot because she had informed me that this shoot would probably be the last time she puts on her point shoes, as she was not going to pursue a career in dance. I like to think of it as my first and probably last “Trash the Shoes” shoot. I took a trip to Solvang and we went to a beautiful hiking trail with a waterfall at the end. Throughout the ‘hike’ we did pictures here and there and the lighting was impeccable.  I could not have been more pleased with the way the lighting came out in the photographs. The only regret from that day is not being able to catch a silhouette shot (mainly because the sun was not low enough to serve as backlight at the moment).  Other than that, I am more than ecstatic about how the photographs came out. Thanks so much to Brittany for being a graceful dancer with such beautiful lines.

Joe K's Kitchen

My friend Joe is starting his own business as a personal chef/small party caterer/nutritional consultant.   He asked me to do photos for his website and I was more than happy to. And the best part was that I got to taste everything! And I admit that every time I think of the stuffed mushroom my mouth waters a little. I honestly can say it was the best food I’ve tasted in years! With Joe you don’t only get phenomenal food but great company as well. Lopez Wedding

Traveled to Sacramento and shot my first solo wedding. First of all, solo weddings are difficult!!  It’s hard only being able to shoot from one perspective, especially when the bride walks down the aisle. I wanted to get the bride of course, but also catch the priceless look on the grooms face when he first sees her. I shot the bride first because, let’s face it she’s more important J then quickly shot over to the groom.  Luckily the bride was easy going and not a bridezilla! That made my job so easy and less stressful. The beautiful wedding party also made my job easy. All I did was shoot, shoot, and shoot some more.  90% of the photos are candid which is exactly what I prefer. The sun was not cooperating during the ceremony and gave me some pretty bad lighting but what can you do? It was probably one of the best weddings I’ve been to (and I’ve been to a lot!)  Loved the backyard reception with home cooking and the fact that it was so non-traditional.  The groom is a musician and he created his own wedding march for his bride. I would love if he released it to the public, but then again it was that much more special because no one else has it! Thanks Adrienne and Zack for letting me share the day with you!
